Immunizations

The NJIT Student Health Services is responsible for ensuring compliance with state and university immunization requirements. These mandatory requirements include proof of:
  • Receiving two (2) doses of Measles vaccination,
  • Receiving two (2) doses of Mumps vaccination,
  • Receiving two (2) doses of Rubella vaccination,
  • Tuberculosis(PPD) Skin test done within one (1) year of entrance

Important: If your record remains incomplete, you may not be allowed to register for future semesters. If documentation is unavailable, than reimmunization may be necessary.

Who Must Comply?

  • Incoming freshmen
  • Re-admissions
  • Transfer students
  • International Students
  • Graduate Students if you are an NJIT graduate, check with Health Services for status of records, otherwise, submit as above)

Who is Exempt?

  • Students born before January 1, 1957.
  • Distant Learning Students who do not physically attend classes with other students.
  • Distant Learning Students who do not live in New Jersey.
  • Medical contraindication ( must have supporting physician documentation).

Where can I Obtain my Immunization Records?

  • High School
  • Personal Immunization Record: Signed records from pediatricians or family physicians
  • Previous college or, university
  • Local Health Departments: If received there.

Students Must Also Complete the Following:

  • Tuberculin Test: Results within 12 months
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria: Primary series and booster within IO years.
  • Physical Exam

Health Insurance

All full-time students must have Health Insurance; you are automatically enrolled and charged a fee. Part-time students may also participate in the program. If you have other comparable coverage in effect for the full academic year, you may waive the insurance by completing the waiver form. Insurance forms and waivers are available in Health Services. International students ( both part-time and full-time) are automatically enrolled in the program.
